Patient participation Group

The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is aimed at providing a link between the surgery and its patients. We are committed to establishing this group to enable the practice to better understand its patients and provide better healthcare through communication and access to surgery facilities.

Birchdale Road Medical Centre Practice has a successful Patient Participation Group (PPG) running since September 2014.Patient input is crucial to the development of our Practice services and the future of the NHS as a whole, and we welcome Patients from all ages and backgrounds to join our PPG.

The Aims of the Patient Participation Group

"To work with the practice to provide practical support, to help patients take more responsibility for their own health and to provide strategic input and advice. PPGs are based on cooperation between the practice staff and patients.we aim to ensure that patients are involved in decisions about the range and quality of services we provide and ensure that Patient voice is heard.

Benefits for the patient

  • Patients will be more responsible for their own health.
  • Patients will have a better understanding and knowledge of the practice and its staff.
  • Patients will have a forum to suggest positive ideas and voice concerns
  • Patients will benefit from improved communications between patients and staff

This allows up to date information to be given to patients and will inform what decisions can be influenced and what cannot. It will also allow the practice staff to gain an understanding from the patient’s perspective. This ensures that two way communications are achieved

To help us with this, we have patient participation group so that you can have your say. We will ask the members of this representative group some questions from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you received.

Our PPG meets every quarterly to discuss current issues and we welcome new members to join our team.We always ensure that we have a Partner of the Practice and a member of the Management team present at the meeting.
